As we go through our day by day activities and whether we start with a prayerful thanks to our God and creator or whether we jump right into today’s to do list, we should really fight for thinking about what’s important in life each and every day. We get so caught up in our important tasks of the day that we lose track of what’s really important in life and what our most important mission really is and how we are to stay close to God and pursue His Will for us.
Fight the Good Fight – In Paul’s final instructions to Timothy, he wants to impress on his young disciple the need to hold fast, stay the course, fight the good fight. Paul knows that the road ahead of Timothy will not be easy. Wherever the gospel is preached, there will be battles; there will be persecution. But Paul knows the greatest battle is not with flesh and blood. It’s against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world.
The battle is over “what we believe,” and those who persevere will win the prize of eternal life promised to those who confess Jesus as Lord.
Does the battle around you continue to rage no matter how hard you fight? Have your enemies gained the upper hand? Have you grown weary or lost sight of the prize? God did not call us to fight our battles alone. When we seek God in prayer and acknowledge our weakness and weariness, he will fight the battle for us. Someday we will stand at the gates of heaven and gaze in wonder at the prize in front of us, and the battles behind us will become a fading memory. (From TecartaBible)
